Dr. Dray recommends starting your skincare routine with the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant. This gentle exfoliant, formulated with salicylic acid, helps unclog pores, reduce blackheads, and improve skin texture. Its lightweight consistency makes it suitable for various skin types, even for those with sensitive skin. A cult-favorite, this exfoliant contains salicylic acid (BHA) that penetrates pores, unclogs them, and helps with acne and blackheads. Keep it away from the eyelids!
This cream to foam formula is aimed at people with oily skin but Dr. Dray recommends this one for all skin types. People with dry and sensitive skin will benefit from this simple and effective cleanser by Paula’s Choice. It has ceramides in it, it’s very moisturizing and spreads on the skin smoothly. Does a great job at cleansing your face. If you are set on a Paula’s Choice cleanser, this is a good one. However, our reasonable dermatologist, Dr Dray feels you can get a great cleanser at a more affordable price.
For those dealing with redness, rosacea, or post-acne marks, Dr. Dray recommends the 10% Azelaic Acid Booster. Azelaic acid is known for its anti-inflammatory and brightening properties. This product can help fade discoloration and even out skin tone over time. Azelaic acid is excellent for brightening skin, fading hyperpigmentation, and tackling acne as well as rosacea. It’s a gentle option for many skin types.
This is wonderful for removing waterproof sunscreen and cosmetics. It leaves your skin feeling hydrated and clean. Just top it up with the Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser mentioned above. Or, to be honest, any good cleanser will do!
Dr. Dray loves this product. This salicylic acid product helps exfoliate the skin, improves skin cell turnover. It’s very good for reducing blackheads, white heads and effectively targets hyperpigmentation. It tends to be well tolerated by people who have deeper skin tones because its main ingredient salicylic acid is well tolerated by people with deeper skin tones. It’s anti-inflammatory help with acne fighting as well.
The gel consistency sets it apart from the above mentioned 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant. So, if gel is your preference, this would be a better option for you.
You can use it once or twice a day to clean skin. Damp or dry, depending on how well you tolerate it.
Formulated with glycolic acid (AHA), this treatment gently exfoliates, improving skin tone, texture, hyperpigmentation and the appearance of fine lines.
Dr Dray especially likes this product because it has a lot of useful ingredients formulated together in one product. It saves the consumer from having to buy multiple products, each having these individual ingredients. Layering different products from different brands can cancel each other out so it is wiser to use one product, knowing that is has been scientifically formulated.
This product is safe to be used for all skin tones and skin types for effective fading of dark marks. Dr Dray recommends using this once or twice a day, depending on the sensitivity of your skin. After cleansing, apply a pea-sized amount while the skin is still damp to increase penetration.
You can layer other ingredients easily with tranexamic acid, however, in my personal experience, it is better to keep your skincare routine simple to avoid skin irritation.
Do not forget to use a moisturizer or a sunscreen once the product has been absorbed into your skin.
This product is especially good for people with body acne or hyperpigmentation. This 2% leave on salicylic acid body treatment is in a spray form, which makes it easier to apply to hard-to-reach areas. This spray helps with reducing irritation, redness and inflammation.
Spray to the targeted areas and rub it in to get an even application. Paula’s choice also sells an applicator to help you reach your back easily. Does that mean you can’t use it on your face? Absolutely not. Just don’t spray it on your face. Just spray it in your hands and then pat it into your face instead.
Sun protection is non-negotiable in a complete skincare routine. Dr Dray recommends this water-resistant sunscreen with zero cast. This has a silky consistency. Dr. Dray found that this could burn around your eyes, so this is especially good for the body and easy to reapply owing to its non-greasy nature.
This beautiful purple exfoliator soothes out the surface of the skin and helps reduce texture, this also helps with skin hydration. Ideal for people with large pores and really oily skin. Dr Dray prefers this to the peel by the Ordinary, mainly because it is easily to apply and be consistent with this one by Paula’s Choice.
Use this product on clean, dry skin in the morning or at night once a week. Dr. Dray uses this in the morning because you do not want to use this along with retinol.
Let’s be honest, the purple cream will definitely make your skincare routine more fun!
Incorporating dermatologist-recommended products into your skincare routine can make a significant difference in the health and appearance of your skin. Paula’s Choice, with its evidence-based formulations, aligns perfectly with Dr. Dray’s expert advice. Paula’s Choice is a bit on the more expensive side, but the products mentioned in this blog post have been loved and recommended by Dermatologist Dr Dray so do not hesitate to pick one based on your requirements.
Remember, consistency is key in achieving and maintaining optimal skin health.
Cheers to a calmer mind and skin!
